The Big Picnic
New Healthy Living Songs Wow Crowds At The Big Picnic
Young and old all felt the beat at the Healthy Pompey Big Picnic on Bank Holiday Monday 31 May, when Boogie Mites took to the main stage, hosted by Heart FM. Hilary Palmer and Sue Newman, with support from their backing singers Thea Johnson, Emma Newman and Alice Snook, entertained thousands of people with four of the fabulous new songs from the Boogie Mites Healthy Living CD, which has been produced to support the Healthy Pompey Pre-school Challenge.
Boogie Mites also support the day of family fun, which was attended by over 10,000 people, by hosting free music and movement workshops in the Kids Zone. Giving families the chance to sing, dance, drum and shake their shakers along to the music.
“We are proud to have been part of the Healthy Pompey Campaign Big Picnic, it provided a great free day out and the opportunity for local families to spend quality time together, in addition to promoting the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. Furthermore it was great to get the opportunity to sing the new songs from Boogie Mites Healthy Living programme as it has such fantastic upbeat songs that just make you want to get up and move, which we saw through the crowds immediate reaction” commented Sue Newman.
The event promoting healthy and active lifestyles was hosted by Healthy Pompey, a joint Portsmouth City Council and NHS Portsmouth programme bringing the Change4Life movement to Portsmouth
New Case Study Available
Tackling Literacy In Gosport
In our new case study about Little Waves Children’s Centre in Gosport, Angie Potter the Children’s Centre Support Teacher, states: “Figures from Reception year data shows that literacy levels are significantly lower in Gosport than elsewhere in Hampshire. It is vital that we tackle this issue as early as possible and Boogie Mites and Baby Boogie Mites are great ways of doing this.”
Discover how we are working together to achieve the Centre’s objectives by downloading the new case study “Boogie Mites Making Waves” now.
I CAN Boogie
Boogie Mites are proud to be working with children’s charity I CAN, providing a couple of our original songs to be used as part of I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge supported by Openreach a sponsored chatter for children aged 0 – 11.
It is a natural partnership, as Boogie Mites aim is to optimise the benefits music plays in a child’s development with particular focus on speech, language, communication and confidence, through providing fun and practical music and movement programmes using original songs written to inspire children, parents and teachers to enjoy learning through music.
This challenge this year takes on a mini-beasts and garden theme, so register for your pack full of fantastic activities on I CAN’s website and get ready to tap out the names of some of those creepy crawly bugs!
